Once move is confirmed…
- Book Transport Company and Storage Facility
- Book childcare, pet sitting
- Book cleaner and landlord inspection
- Redirect utilities – phone and internet, power, water and gas
- Arrange transport and storage insurance (see T’s&C’s for insurance while using our storage facilities West Auckland)
- Change Addresses – finance and IRD, utilities, healthcare providers, subscriptions, local council (for rates, voting, etc), employers and schools, friends and family
- Buy boxes, packing tape, marker pens, bubblewrap/brown paper/other packaging (check out the Box Shop onsite at our Storage Facility)
- Start packing! (See our handy Packing Hints and Tips)… don’t forget the shed and garage.
Moving Day!
- Ensure property access is clear and unimpeded, both inside and outside
- Carry out final clean
- Do a final sweep: has anything been left behind (check drawers, cupboards, roof spaces, under house, sheds and garages)
- Check all lights, stove, hot water cylinder turned off
- Take final power/gas meter reading
- Check doors, windows and gates are closed and locked, and keys returned
- Check light, power, appliances, hot water turned on and functioning at new place
- Put Storage Unit key somewhere handy, and…. relax!
